ReadyTech SMS read-through for Tech1

ReadyTech (ASX:RDY) announced it had been selected as the Student Management System (SMS) platform provider for the Victorian TAFE Network. Technology One Limited (ASX:TNE) also serves the Vic TAFE Student Management space with the remaining 8 of the TAFEs as their customers.

  • SMS platform provider option, not mandate: ReadyTech has secured an umbrella agreement via the Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery (OTCD). This does not guarantee that Victorian TAFEs will migrate to using ReacyTech's SMS. The process going forward requires ReadyTech to now negotiate individual timelines and costs with each TAFE which cover the scale of implementation and standard change management processes. ReadyTech's initial commitment with OTCD is for five years, with options to extend up to a total of 11 years.
  • At risk ARR ~1%: In discussion with RDY, we understand that annual licensing fees for SMS are estimated to range ~A$0.5-$1.5m per TAFE depending on size complexity and user count. Assuming all 8 remaining TAFEs were to adopt RDY's SMS solution we see ~A$8m ARR at risk or ~1% of TNE's FY26e revenue.
  • Tech1 an Incumbent provider: Tech1 is in most cases already the incumbent having 8 of the Victorian TAFEs as student management customers, and all using some of Tech1's products. Student Management is the heart of a Uni or TAFE's ERP system, which all other products connect into. With deep integration into the ERP ecosystem, it may prove difficult for ReadyTech to convince TAFEs to switch from their current SMS in our view. TAFE's who are using TechOne SMS are already commited to 'Enterprise Vision' which refers to procuring an ecosystem of solutions from Tech1; not just individual products.
  • AI a gamechanger: As highlighted in our recent initiation report on Tech1 we see their AI offering (AI enabled, PLUS, and Guide) as being a revenue generator for customers' and not just a cost saving or productivity benefit. In our view this is a differentiated AI offering, which is more likley to attract customers.
