HITL, HOOTL, and Tacit Knowledge

*Hi,*

***HITL (Human in the loop) vs. HOOTL (Human Out Of The Loop). ****A few new developments this week which really had me reconsidering about the role of humans in future society. It started last weekend when OpenAI offered to solve the CAPTCHA *image for me (the very thing which is supposed to differentiate bots from humans 🤣), which probably wasn’t very hard given the pace of AI development, but this week we also saw Tesla starting to offer rides in its [Cybercab](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grdt05okn3Q&feature=youtu.be) and [Vara](https://www.vara.ai/) announcing the first in the world to receive regulatory approval for a breast triage tool that bypasses radiologist review for certain mammograms.

In a future where roles from drivers to radiologists are being disintermediated, what value can a human bring? In my view, this comes back to [tacit knowledge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacit_knowledge). We touched upon this a few weeks ago (see weekly: [When I grow up, I want to be a prompt engineer…](https://homodeus.one/research/report/the-next-evolution-scx-on-the-asx-a4n-at-overcapacity-4-days-gta-vi-for-2-years-service-weekly)).

**Idea of the week:**

- Decidr AI (ASX:DAI) is an ASX-listed company which has seen six quarters of consecutive growth in AER (annualised exit rate). The company is a direct play on tacit knowledge and partners with companies including SCX.ai (ASX:SCX) to ensure sovereignty of that knowledge is retained. GPT ‑ 6 Astra saturates the eval, scoring 99.9%. The average human tester scored 48%. GPT ‑ 6 Astra was measured with our responses API harness , which better reflects real-world performance than the original benchmark harness, which discards past reasoning and past messages.
